Attending Open Houses

Open Houses are events sponsored by the company to share information about its project with the public.

Why Attend Open Houses

As part of the Company's community outreach program in Commission’s pre-filing process. Companies may hold Open Houses in the vicinity of the proposed project area to share information about its project with the public. You will have an opportunity to express your views and to have them considered. You will also have the opportunity to learn the views of other interested parties.

When are Open Houses Scheduled

For major construction projects, the companies may notified the media that a public meetings may be held. The Commission does not promote these events therefore you should contact the natural gas company listed on the project for more information.

What is the FERC's Role For Open Houses

The Commission frequently sends staff to attend open houses during pre-filing to answer questions, discuss the FERC's pre-filing process, and invite stakeholders/public to participate in the environmental and certificate application proceedings. An important component of the NEPA review of projects involves public input early in the process.
