Why is it Important

By filing a written comment enables your views to be considered and addressed in the environmental documents, which determines if this project get approved for not. All comments submitted are posted on eLibrary where they can be viewed publicly, however your private information will not.

Ways You Can Comment

There are several ways to make your views known to the commission regarding the environmental issues of a pipeline or facility location.

eComment: Limited to Individuals

  • The form is limited to 6,000 characters and does not allow attachments
  • Your session times out after 35 minutes of inactivity. FERC recommends that you create your commends in a Word or text document, and then pastes them into the eComment submission form.
  • eComment is limited to select dockets or matters under consideration and noted about.
  • You will not need to register but you must supply an active email address
  • You will need your docket number (don't know your project number?)

eFiling: Agencies, Association, Companies, Organizations, and Intervenors

  • Allows you to submit comments that exceed 6,000 characters, as well as non-text materials, such as exhibits or photos and other file attachments.
  • You must first create a user name and password by registering as a FERC Online User through eRegisteration system
  • eRegistration gives you access to the eSubscription system. eSubscription helps you track matters bore the Commission, and you can subscribe to a specific docket number for each proceeding.
  • eSubscription will notify you via email about submittals and issues in the proceeding, and you can retrieve public documents through the links in the emails. You may subscribe to multiple proceedings using the same eRegister account.

  • You must include the project or docket number
